Dental Marketing Consultant Kimberly Kelly has announced today that her company, Target Dental Marketing Consultants LLC, will be the first major dental practice marketing company to offer a free recession rescue marketing guide, exclusively for family and cosmetic dentists.

With the economy still steeped in economic turmoil, many Americans are putting off “non emergency” routine dental care. According to a recent survey conducted by the American Dental Association, a growing number of family dentists across the nation have reported serious declines in practice revenues.

For many family dentists, these financial challenges are further exacerbated by the upsurge in competing practices vying for the same patients. To combat these declines, the family dentists surveyed have acknowledged making cutbacks in their dental marketing budgets. While others are seeking out viable solutions to increase revenues.

“More and more, family dental practices are finding it a necessity to “beef up” sales and marketing activities in order to survive,” says Kimberly Kelly, Chief Marketing Strategist at Target Dental Marketing Consultants. “My hope is that this free guide will be a lifeline to family dentists struggling to get and keep more new patients.”

This free dental marketing guide (“The 7 Symptoms of Troubled Marketing & How to Treat Them“) delivers a much needed boost to beleaguered family and cosmetic dentistry practices hard hit by the recession.

Availability:

Is your family practice using dental business cards to win more new patients?

Learn how you can beef up your dental marketing strategy with this exceptional little tool.

Did you know that dental business cards are the most overlooked, patient winning tool in your dental marketing arsenal?

Unlike any other family dentistry marketing tool, your dental business cards are the most widely distributed piece of marketing literature you will ever use. So, why not use this vital little dental marketing tool to win more new patients for your family practice?

As a dental marketing consultant, I have to admit to you that I’ve seen more than my share of family dental practices that just simply do not know how to effectively use and maximize the value of this little marketing goldmine.

In this brief article, I’m going to share some very simple and practical dental marketing strategies and applications for the humble little dental business card.

Marketing Benefits of Dental Business Cards

Convenient: By virtue of their size, successful dental business cards are perfect in that they are the only lightweight, portable and convenient ad that your prospective patients aren’t likely to trash.

Non-Threatening: Many people like and ask for business cards. Unlike other forms of dental marketing literature, this little 3.5 x 2 inch billboard is the perfect, non-threatening soft sell for your family practice.

Economical: This is by far one of the best benefits of using dental business cards as a powerful dental marketing tool. You can afford to give lots of them away without breaking the bank.

Effective: Dental business cards get read! No marketing overload with these little babies. If you know how to use them effectively, you can get your practice’s advertising message across without being pushy, causing offense or getting trashed!

Tips for Using Dental Business Cards as a Part of Your Dental Marketing Strategy

#1: Utilize both sides of your business card.

Consider using one side for contact information and the other side for a patient winning (cosmetic dentistry) marketing offer.

#2: Target your ideal patients when designing and crafting the ad copy for your business cards.

Keep in mind, you only have a very small space to get your marketing message across successfully. Use it wisely!

#3: Don’t make the mistake of having a business printer or “all purpose” graphic designer, design your practice’s dental business cards.

Remember you want to utilize this little medium as a powerful dental marketing tool. Be sure to consult with a knowledgeable dental marketing consultant who specializes in targeted, dental business card marketing campaigns.

Creating Dental Marketing Campaigns using Dental Business Cards

Affiliate Marketing Campaigns

Cosmetic Dentistry Marketing Campaigns

Fusion Marketing Campaigns

Referral Marketing Campaigns

The possibilities are endless! These are only a few ideas for ways in which you can maximize the power of dental business cards as a part of your overall targeted, precision dental marketing strategy.

Is Teeth Whitening Equivalent to a Spa Beauty Treatment?

The battle for cosmetic dentistry market share has just heated up. Family and cosmetic dentists are finding themselves facing even greater marketing challenges, than just this lingering economic recession.

Increasingly, successful marketing for cosmetic dentists is becoming more of a monumental marketing fight to the death. With more and more teeth whitening products and service providers entering the cosmetic dentistry marketing arena, cosmetic dentists are finding it more of a challenge than ever to compete with this onslaught of unlikely competition.

Have you ever heard of the Council for Cosmetic Teeth Whitening (CCTW)? Well if you haven’t you should understand that they’re on a mission to classify teeth whitening as a beauty treatment –- and not a dental procedure!

In a recent letter to the editor of Skin Inc magazine (September 2010), Kelly Lanspa, an outspoken member of the Council for Cosmetic Teeth Whitening, states that theFederal Trade Commission just made an announcement that it has initiated action against the North Carolina Dental Board.

Lanspa states that the FTC has decided to take action because this dental board illegally prevented beauty salons, spas and other non-dentists from performing what she deemed as “cosmetic teeth whitening”.

Lanspa further states in her letter to the editor of Skin Inc., that the US Food & Drug Administration has labeled teeth whitening as a “cosmetic”, and NOT dental procedure.

Cosmetic Dentistry Marketing Sound-off

What do you think? Is teeth whitening a beauty treatment or dental procedure?

The CCTW states on its website (www.cctwonline.com) that “…teeth whitening is a cosmetic process, not an invasive dental procedure.”

As a family dentist, how do you believe this unlikely competition will impact your practice’s cosmetic dentistry marketing success?

We want to hear what you have to say on this issue. If you’re a family dentist practicing cosmetic dentistry in the USA, Canada, the UK or Ireland please share your point of view by posting a comment.

If you are a dentist, we want to hear from you!

What Reading Dear Abby Can Teach Us About Untapped Cosmetic Dentistry Markets

One of the hidden profit centers of cosmetic dentistry lies in effectively reaching out to untapped markets. That’s what makes targeted dental marketing for cosmetic dentists such a vital ingredient in the marketing mix.

So how can your cosmetic dentistry practice actively pursue and target these viable untapped markets? In the words of Captain Kirk of the USS Enterprise, “Go where no man or woman has gone before, to seek out new life and new civilizations…”.

Okay, I admit I’m an incurable trekkie. But, here’s the real point — think like your ideal cosmetic dentistry patients. Read what they read. Watch what they watch. Go out of your way to understand the true psychology behind what these ideal targets need, value and desire.

Your willingness to do so is what separates the serious and successful, die-hard dental marketers who really pull in BIG new patient numbers, from those who struggle to get good results.

A Lesson from Dear Abby…

Have you read “Dear Abby’s” advice column lately? I have to admit that I’m not an avid reader, but I just happened to pick up the Atlanta Journal Constitution on July 22, 2010, while waiting in line at the bank.

You would not believe the topic for Abby’s column that day. Get this, it was about targeted dental marketing for cosmetic dentists. Can you believe it? A dental marketing consultant’s dream. (I know — the beautiful irony of it all!)

You know, I just couldn’t wait to show my cosmetic dentist clients my delicious little find. In fact, I just can’t wait for you to read it too. This is just too good -– check out it out here: http://www.uexpress.com/dearabby/?uc_full_date=20100722!

This was really going to prove my case for them to continuously seek out untapped, targeted cosmetic dental markets. Anyway, the article was from “Turned off in South Carolina”.

It just so happens that her new boyfriend Rodney is a tobacco chewer, with what she labeled serious “dental issues” — bad breath, yellow teeth (you know, the whole cosmetic dentistry 9 yards!)

Her request for Dear Abby’s advice came out of a kissing crisis. Look, she really liked Rodney and thought he was a real nice guy. It’s just that his cosmetic dental issues started to become a real problem in the romance department.

“Turned Off” wanted to know if Abby would advise her to break the whole relationship off.

You know, Abby’s advice was pretty cool. (I won’t spoil it for you –- you’ll just have to read it to find out all the juicy drama:) Even better, it’s serves as a shining example for how targeted dental marketing for cosmetic dentists is all about solving REAL problems for REAL people facing REAL issues.

As a cosmetic dentist, thinking like your ideal patients and serving them well by becoming a real problem solver, is the key to reaching the untapped cosmetic dentistry market goldmine.

Ready to take your cosmetic dentistry marketing to the next level?

Explore how targeted, precision dental marketing for cosmetic dentists can catapult your practice’s marketing to the next level. Get more cosmetic dentistry patients than you can handle with a Business Building Blueprint!

Billboard Advertising Mistake #1:

Too Much Ad Copy

Billboards ads need to work hard to capture attention in a split second. As most billboard advertising is placed along high traffic major roadways, drivers are passing by at a rate of speed that only allows for your ad to attract attention and be memorable within a few seconds.

Solution: Consult with a dental ads expert or professional dental marketing consultant who specializes in crafting billboard marketing campaigns for cosmetic dentists. You only have 7 seconds to make the case for your cosmetic dentistry services.

Professional Advice: Try to use 10 words or less and never more than 3 lines of ad copy if you can help it.

Billboard Advertising Mistake #2: Boring! Boring! Boring!

One of the most important factors you should consider BEFORE engaging in billboard marketing for your cosmetic dentistry practice is the fact that you need to craft a very brief message that engages prospective patients. The whole point of billboard marketing for cosmetic dentist is to engage a potential patient.

Solution: Be sure to craft an “offer specific”, emotionally charged message that highlights a core unfulfilled desire or urgent concern for your ideal patient.

Professional Advice: If you haven’t had much success with your cosmetic dentistry billboard marketing campaigns in the past — or if this is your first time using billboard marketing for your cosmetic dentistry practice –- be sure to get professional help with deciding on the best marketing message to use on your billboard ads.

Remember, emotionally charged copy with precise psychological triggers works best!

Billboard Advertising Mistake #3: Not Targeting Your Ideal Patient

Billboard advertising is very expensive and can yield very disappointing results, if not done with precision. As you think of what cosmetic dentistry service you’d like to promote, keep in mind that you should go through the essential process of what I like to call “creating an ideal patient profile”. This alone could save you thousands of wasted advertising dollars from poorly converting billboard ads.

Solution: Write down the key points you’d like to accomplish with your ads. Would you like to promote whitening? If so, then be sure to create a benefits list. Think of why the average Jane or Joe driving past your billboard should want to fumble for a pen to write down your information, while driving at a rate of 60 to 70 miles per hour!

Avoiding the Most Common Billboard Marketing Mistakes for Cosmetic Dentists

These are just some the most common and the most costly billboard marketing mistakes for cosmetic dentists to avoid. There are actually 5 other key things to consider when marketing your cosmetic dentistry services with billboard advertising.

Choosing the right image, photo or graphics to match your message

The psychology of color and how to use it to increase response rates

Choosing the right location for your billboard dental ads makes a difference

Do You Need a Billboard Marketing Campaign?

Yes! Billboard marketing for cosmetic dentists has the best chance for success when it is part of an overall targeted, precision marketing system. If you’re going to commit to spending thousands each month for billboard advertising, be sure to protect your marketing investment by arming yourself with the knowledge and expertise you need to make your campaigns a real success.

Forget just about everything you've learned or heard about successful dental case presentation tactics. Learn what actually works and get more of your patients to Accept Your Treatment Plan!

Forget just about everything you’ve learned or heard about successful dental case presentation tactics. Yup -– you did hear right. Forget them. Why? Because if they were working for you, you probably wouldn’t be taking the time to read this.

Here is why most of what is being taught on the subject of successful dental case presentation just doesn’t work. Many of the leading teachers, consultants and dental case presentation strategists are either dentists, or consultants who have been so keenly focused on the dental industry, that they just haven’t been taking very seriously what’s happening to the people all around them.

What Do I Mean?

Your patients are not dentists or dental practice management consultants. They’re “real” people, with “real” problems, living in the “real” world. These real people are facing today’s challenges of job layoffs, a lack of insurance coverage, putting their kids through college –- and the endless list of life’s priorities that demand and drain their financial resources.

Unfortunately, dental treatment seems to fall into the category of “optional”, even though you and I know this is certainly not the case. According to “The Times Tribune“, a leading newspaper, dentists are seeing more and more patients skipping routine appointments to save money.

This is further substantiated by the results of a 2009 American Dental Association survey, that reveals that dentists nationwide have been feeling the pinch of fewer new patients — and existing patients that don’t show up for routine care. This ADA survey of the nation’s dentists also reports a “real” decline in dental practice revenues across the board.

Here’s what you can do!

3 Sure-fire Strategies for Improved Dental Case Acceptance

#1: Stop Thinking Like a Dentist

Instead, think like your ideal patients. What’s important to them? What prevents them from accepting your recommended treatment plan?

#2: Make the Transition from Dental Practice to Dental Business

You don’t just practice dentistry. You also face the challenges of running a successful dental business. You need an on target! precision marketing plan in place to attract more of your ideal patients, and to hang onto existing ones.

#3: Improve Foundational Marketing Systems

Increased dental case acceptance begins at the foundational level. When you first started your practice, did you have a precision marketing system in place that addressed dental case presentation?

Would you like to learn more about successful dental case presentation tactics that work? Check out Accept My Treatment Plan!

Join the conversation! What case presentation challenges are you facing? Or, perhaps you have some very useful tips to share with other dentists. Show the love and share your comments
